Arsenal 2:0 Psg Champions League match highlight
Arsenal capitalized on two goalkeeping mistakes by Gianluigi Donnarumma to secure a 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates in tonight’s Champions League clash.
First-half strikes from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka paved the way for Mikel Arteta’s side, as the Gunners recorded their maiden win of this season’s Champions League campaign.
Set-pieces once again proved decisive in what was a tightly contested match with limited opportunities for either side, as both Arsenal goals were the result of crosses from wide areas.
Leandro Trossard produced a brilliant delivery for Havertz’s opener at the 20-minute mark, though Donnarumma’s misjudgment in rushing out and missing the ball made the German’s task far easier.
All eyes turned to PSG’s goalkeeper again 15 minutes later when Saka’s free kick sailed through the box and slipped past him down the center of the goal, doubling Arsenal’s lead shortly before halftime.
Both PSG full-backs, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes, came close during the first half, with Mendes striking the woodwork, but despite dominating possession, the visitors found it difficult to mount a comeback
Gabriel Martinelli had a chance to seal the win early in the second half but shot straight at Donnarumma when through one-on-one. This failure to secure a third goal left Arsenal vulnerable, and Joao Neves hit the crossbar from a corner midway through the second half.
Nevertheless, Arsenal’s strong defense—one of the best in Europe—dealt with PSG’s attacks comfortably to secure a clean sheet, while Luis Enrique’s team has now only managed a single goal in the UCL this season, an own goal late on against Girona.
